Installing ActivePDF Products on a Windows 2012 R2 Server




To resolve the Windows Script Host error message such as: ActiveX component can't create object: APToolkit.Object.





If you are installing an ActivePDF product (released in 2017 or later) on a Windows 2012 server, you need to download and install two Microsoft updates for Windows 2012 servers. These updates resolve issues with the Microsoft Visual 2015 C++ Redistributable Runtime Component.



  1. Download and install KB2919442:

    1. Go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42153

    2. Download the installer named: Windows8.1-KB2919442-x64 .msu

    3. Run the installer and follow the instructions.

    4. After installation, restart the machine.



  2. Download and install KB2919355:

    1. Go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42334

    2. Click Download and from the list, select these two files:

      • clearcompressionflag.exe

      • Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu



    3. Run clearcompresssionflag.exe and then Windows8.1-KB2919355-x64.msu.

    4. Restart the machine.




  3. If:


      • You have not installed the ActivePDF product yet:
        Install the ActivePDF product now.






    • You installed the ActivePDF product before Step 1:
      Follow these additional steps:

      1. In the Control Panel, go to Uninstall or Change a Program.

      2. Locate:

        • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x64)

        • Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86)



      3. One at a time, select each version, double click, and select Repair.

      4. Uninstall, then re-Install the ActivePDF product.
